The Castaways Acro Tips
Things to consider for Castaways and opponents alike:
- Know the rules! This is the most important tip of all. If you haven't
already, check out the rules for
Team Acro on
the rules
page .
- Have fun! This is the second most important tip. This is supposed
to be a GAME after all! Cheer on your team! Congratulate your
teammates and opponents alike! Poke fun at people when they deserve
it (and if you're Moonspell, even when they don't :) I'd much rather
lose a match to a fun team than win a match against a bunch of grumps.
- Play honestly. Vote for the acro *you* think is the best. Don't tag
your acros with telltale words, punctuation or capitalization. Don't
talk about any of the acros during the voting period. Basically, just
use your common sense and display good sportsmanship.
- "Variety is the spice of life". Think creatively! Avoid using the
same old words and themes in your acros when you can. After a while,
references to Clinton, Saddam, caressing, redheads, viagra, etc. get boring
and won't get voted for.
- For Castaways opponents: don't confuse our playing 'style' with
cheating. We'll often do the following things in matches:
- Use a lot of :'s in our acros, especially 3 or 4 letter ones
- Write complete sentences, with a capitalized first word and
a period at the end.
- Play the GA category when we are given the choice.
- Say 'ALERT' or just 'LERT' when a category other than GA is
selected, to warn everyone to check the category.
