3/8/99 - Castaways vs Damage, Inc

This match was played with regular rules and cumulative Top 5 scoring. Present for the Castaways were Rusty, Colt, Lynx, Bear, Jennn, Sunni, and Moon. This was only the 2nd 'clean' match for the Inc. squad, and the difference in acroing styles was apparent almost from the very start.

Game 1 saw a host of Castaways near the top of the leaderboard, all chasing BennyInc, who played a great game, winning the round. Unfortunately, he was the only Inc player in the top 8, as the Castaways grabbed the rest of the top slots. Moon and LacyInc were also booted during the game, with 17 and 5 points, respectively. Rusty and Benny played to a tie in the face off, with Benny's higher game score giving him the 5pt bonus. Final score: 92-72 Castaways.

Game 2 saw FluxInc and SexeeInc get off to fast starts for Inc, but then Lynx, Moon and Bear joined them at the top of the leaderboard for an interesting finish. The 2 teams' different styles caused some griping in this game, with the voting falling closely along team lines. In the end, Lynx and Moon went to face off, and the Castaways came away with a 127-70 win.

Thanks to Damage, Inc for a well-played match despite the style differences!

3/1/99 - Castaways vs Couch Taters

This match was played with regular rules and face off scoring. Though it was on our calendar for 8PM, it was an hour later on the TA and Taters' schedule, so they were kind enough to scramble and gather a team earlier than they thought they had to. Despite this, the Castaways were the ones who ended up playing shorthanded, with Jk, Anjuliz, Rusty, Lynx, Colton, and our semi-official member Sunni all making appearances. Sunni rushed into the match at the last moment, and had some very Tater-like stripes on, causing a good bit of confusion early on ("Which team is she playing for?" :)

Game 1 was close early on, with neither team getting out to much of an advantage. Then Sunni took over, zooming up the leaderboard, only to be stopped by the dreaded '29' curse! This actually helped the rest of the team catch up a bit, with Lynx, Colton and Anj all breaking the 20 pt mark and the Castaways owning the top 6 slots. After pausing for a few rounds at 29, Sunni finally managed to hit 30, with Lynx grabbing second, giving the Castaways game 1.

Game 2 was the Anjuliz show! Leaving the rest of the field in the dust, Anj rolled up 30 points before almost anyone else hit double digits. Rusty was lucky enough to get past 10 pts, and took second, making it another Castaway sweep of the face off slots.

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks again to the Taters (and Art) for rearranging their schedules and making it such an enjoyable match. Thanks also to all the folks who helped out, including Yermama2 who subbed for the Taters, and Sunni who alerted the T's to the scheduling snafu. We're looking forward to next month's match, and we'll double-check the time beforehand!

2/26/99 - Castaways vs Excalibur's Revenge

This match was played with regular rules and cumulative top 5 scoring. Present for the Castaways were Model, Anjuliz, Rusty, Colton, and Jennn (end of game 1 and game 2). Thanks to TerryO and Summy for subbing for us!

Game 1 was a see-saw battle, with Rusty, Mod, and Colt holding off some excellent challenges by LadyOCrow and PryncValiant. In the end , Rusty and Mod went to FO, and the Castaways took the game 120-67.

Game 2 saw Summy get out to an early lead, closely pursued by LadyMorganna and LadyOTheLake. A late round win by Colt snuck him past the pack into the FO, with Summy squeaking past LadyM to make it a Castaway-only face off. With the 5 pt bonus, the final score was 125-86 Castaways.

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the fun crew of ER, who made the match enjoyable from start to end. We'll have to get a list of nicknames from you for our next encounter!

2/24/99 - Castaways vs Flying Toaster Philes

This match was played with regular rules and cumulative top 5 scoring. Present for the Castaways were Lynx, Moon, Anjuliz, Jennn, Colton, Cape, and Menace. Menace fought a severe case of lag most of the evening and was only able to get acros entered about 1/2 the time.

Game 1 was a long, high scoring game. Lynx got out to the early lead, but then ran afoul of the dreaded '29 curse' for several rounds, allowing the rest of the field to catch up. Moon eventually passed Lynx to take the round, with those 2 going to FO. Five Castaways topped the 20 point mark as we took a 140-55 win.

Game 2 featured Moonspell destroying the field, winning the game in a runaway. The FTP's Joey came alive at the end of the game to grab second and went to FO with Moon. The 2-5 slots were fairly close between the teams, but Moon's total pushed the Castaways to a 67-31 victory.

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the FTP's for a really fun match with plenty of between-round banter. We must do this again soon!

2/22/99 - Castaways vs Super Spa Floaters

(Tonight's guest reporter - Rusty!)
After some head scratching by our acting captain (and some reminders from his teammates), the second match of tonight's doubleheader was played with regular rules and faceoff scoring. Suiting up for the Castaways were mrsmodel and mfw (sharing the special Ironperson award for doing double duty this evening), together with lynx, Bear, cape, jk, and Rusty.

Game 1 was all Castaways, with palm trees decorating the top 7 slots, everyone in double figures. Lynx and jk started strong, soon to be joined near the top by Bear and mod. Lynx finished like she started, ending up with 40 points. Rusty and Bear tied for second, with Rusty somehow overcoming his age handicap to get the FO slot on speed. On the basis of supposedly faster typing, that is. Mfw captured an undeserved Anchor Boy award.

Game 2 was a much tighter affair, with Sunni and a subbing *AL*Nolij having excellent games for the Floaters. In the end, Nolij was top scorer with 31 points, but lynx again finished strong to take second and give us a chance to close out the match. And lynx did just that, showing why she rued tonight by winning the FO in convincing fashion! Excellent match by lynx. Cape nailed down the Anchor Boy award, although he says he was distracted by all the features on his new computer.

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. A good time was had by all, and thanks to the Floaters for a fun match! We look forward to doing it again soon!

2/22/99 - Castaways vs Anglers

This match (the 1st of a doubleheader tonight) was played with regular acro rules and cumulative scoring. Present for the Castaways were Moon, Colt, Anj, Port, Mfw, Model, and Jennn. The >)> folks had their own talented squad augmented by Chad A and Moon-Sammy as subs.

Game 1 featured a dual Moon rising over the field, as Moonspell and Moon-Sammy pulled away from the field early to make it to Face Off. The Castaways filled slots 3-5, helping us to a 88-45 win. Jennn picked up a Anchor Girl trophy for her smallish collection.

Game 2 was close early, with Moon-Sammy, Chad, and PrincessBC all having good games for the >)>'s. Around the middle of the game, however, the Castaways took charge with Jennn, Portal and Model all rallying with round wins to push the Castaways ahead for good. Jennn and Port went to Face Off, and the Castaways won, 127-78. Mfw grabbed the Anchor hardware in this game.

This made the final match score 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the Anglers for a fun match, and especially for helping us through our scheduling difficulties!

2/18/99 - Castaways vs FortyTude

This match was played with regular Acro rules and cumulative top 5 scoring. Present for the Castaways were Model, Leaf, Jennn, Anjuliz, Moon, Colton and Cape.

Game 1 was basically the Moonspell show, as he lapped the field, winning the round in a runaway. Leaf grabbed second and the Castaways cruised to an 81-28 victory. Anjuliz stepped up to proudly win the night's first Anchor Girl award.

Game 2 was a much closer affair, as 40VenusOz played an excellent game for the Tudes. Moonspell started slowly in this one, but came on at the end to win the round, going to Face Off with Venus. The Castaways held positions 3-7, and with Moon's face off win the final score was 109-62. Leaf wrestled the Anchor Boy award from all challengers.

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the fun FortyTude gang, we enjoyed the match! Your patience in the midst of all the bot problems was quite amazing. We hope to do it again soon!

2/17/99 - Castaways vs Silver Bullets

In what promised to be a great contest, the Castaways and the Bullets got together for a matchup of two of the top winning percentage teams in Team Acro. The match was played with regular rules and cumulative (top 5) scoring. Present for the Castaways were Leaf, Menace, Lynx, Moon, Capecodder, Rusty, and Colton. Portal subbed for Colton in game 2.

Game 1 started out well for the Castaways as Leaf and Menace got out to the early lead. Soon however, the Bullets made a strong comeback with Sexee and Deep Diction moving near the top of the leaderboard, and Leaf in a holding pattern at 29 points! Eventually Leaf got over the 29 curse, and he, Menace, and Colton finished 1-2-3 to help the Castaways to a 123-77 victory. Rusty claimed his very first Anchor Boy trophy in this game! Congrats :)

Game 2 was a lengthy affair that saw 9 different players win the game's 9 rounds. Moonspell pulled off his best Nick Elendim impression by winning the first round and then picking and scratching his way to face-off, where Rusty joined him. Final score was 104-86, Castaways. Lynx snared the Anchor Girl award.

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the Silver Bullets for 2 exciting and well-played games, with lots of fun chatting in between!

2/15/99 - Castaways vs Acroholics

Tonight was our much-anticipated rematch with the Acroholics! The Castaway lineup was wide and varied tonight. Moon, JK, Anjuliz, Rusty, mfw, Portal and Bearette began the match. After 2 rounds, Anj and Rusty were both booted and couldn't get back in, so moosefan and McWatt stepped in for us. Thanks, guys!

Game 1 started with a Castaway flurry, but then a Acroholic counterattack by Painpill and Heather Anne evened things out. Moon won the last two rounds to pull away, taking Painpill to face-off. Unfortunately, pain got booted before the face-off started, but the Castaways had already secured the victory, 102-84. Bearette captured her first Anchor Girl in some time.

Game 2 was dominated by the Acroholics the first 4 rounds, but then moon and jk came alive, winning 3 and 2 rounds respectively before going to face-off. The Castaways escaped with a 117-82 victory, with mfw edging out moose for the prized Anchor Boy trophy.

Thanks to the Acroholics for putting up with all the acroboots, and for a close match!

2/11/99 - Castaways vs Night Owls

Tonight we met up with Rommel's new crew, the Night Owls, for a later-than-usual match. Present for the Castaways were the soon-to-be-legal Moonspell, hook, mrsmodel, Jennn, Rusty, and Portal. Moosefan filled in for us with the sole intention of capturing a coveted Anchor Boy award. Thanks Moose!

Game 1 saw Rusty and Moon on fire, as they captured all 5 rounds between them. The Castaways captured the top 7 positions en route to a 90-19 victory. Moosefan fulfilled his goal and captured his first Anchor crown in a close race.

Game 2 started with a Rommel win, but then the Castaways woke up and won the remaining rounds, with Moon taking 3 and hook and Jenn one apiece. Moon and Jennn went to Face-off, securing a 108-35 victory. Portal beat out a throng of Castaway hopefuls for the prized Anchor Boy award.

Thanks to the Night Owls for a great game! We look forward to next month when we do it again!

2/10/99 - Castaways vs Alley Cats

This match was played with normal rules and Face Off scoring. Present for the Castaways were most of the team, actually. After some last- minute shuffling, we ended up with a lineup of Lynx, Model, Moon, Jennn, Colton, Menace, and Leaf (nice to see you back playing!!).

Game 1 was pretty much a Moonspell show, as he zoomed to an easy round win while the rest of us struggled to reach double digits. Model grabbed 2nd place, giving the Castaways the game, and a 1-0 match lead. Leaf celebrated his return to match play with a shiny new Anchor Boy trophy.

Game 2 was much more competitive. Jennn, Lynx, Menace and Model all got out to good starts for the Castaways, but then BonzoDe^..^ moved to the lead for the Cats, setting up an exciting finish. Jennn eventually surged ahead for the win, with Moon coming from nowhere to snare 2nd place and assure the Castaways the game. Colton's alter-ego was in evidence, as {--AnchorBoy added a new prize to his collection!

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the Alley Cats for a very fun, entertaining match. Mugs pointed out we hadn't played each other for 6 months or so - let's hope our next meeting is sooner than that!

2/04/99 - Castaways vs SLRs

Tonight we finally got around to playing the Slow Lane crew again. Present for the Castaways were Moon, lynx, Anjuliz, hook, mrsmodel, and Bearette. Moon-Sammy filled in for us in game 1 (Thanks, M-S!) before being replaced by capecodder for game 2.

Game 1 saw a quick revelation as to why Moonspell enjoys playing the SLR's so much, as he racked up 41 points in 5 rounds, taking lynx to face-off with him. Final score was 95-23 Castaways.

Game 2 was a two person show, with Moon and Mmike racing to the finish line. The Castaways got the better of the supporting scores, emerging with a 97-53 victory.

Thanks to all the Slow Laners for a fun match, especially to TerryO for putting up with being robbed every round! Let's do it again soon!

2/02/99 - Castaways vs Family Jewels

This match was a gift from the Jewels - we were scheduled to play the Toaster Philes, but they were no-shows, so the Jewels graciously offered to organize a team and play us. Present for the Castaways were Rusty, Jk, Cape, Bear, Moon, Menace, and Colton. We decided on regular acro rules and top 5 cumulative scoring. The Jewels had a team varying from 5-7 players, both from the bot kicking people off and from late arrivals.

Game 1 was basically a 2-person show, with Rusty and Jk running away with the game early, leaving the rest of us trying to keep up. Those 2 went to face off, and the Castaways grabbed the top 5 slots en route to a 97-22 win. Menace and Colt battled for the Anchor Boy trophy, tearing it in half in the process.

Game 2 was a much closer affair, with EmeraldWolf and SistuhMoon playing strong games for the Jewels. Moonspell led the Castaway attack, eventually going to face off with Wolf. The Castaways got the better of the scoring slots in the game, with the final score ending up 82-44 with the FO bonus. Bear garnered a rare Anchor Girl award in this game.

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks go out to Moon-Sammy and all the Jewels for playing such a fun match on such short notice. You folks are the best!

2/01/99 - Castaways vs Couch Taters

(Today's guest reporter - Portal!)
Assembled for the Castaways tonight were EVERYBODY. A full 10 Castaways donned the palm tree against the ever-tough Couch Taters. Moonspell, Jennn, Lynx, Hook, Bear, and Portal managed to play both games and Octafish, Anjuliz, JK, and Colton played musical Castaway for the first game with Skipper finally settling in for round two. Beyond the AcroBoot, we had to deal with Couch Rules and FO scoring.

The first game (sorry, no pic) featured a host of Castaways winning rounds and ShyBoy820~t~ creeping up into our ranks via a couple great acros and several speed bonuses. Eventually, Moon won the round after climbing top of Bearette and the five other Castaways in double digits. Portal, being the only unbooted C-Way not in double digits, got the first post-Clash anchor. ShyBoy820~t~ did manage to sneak past Bear to get into FO with Moon. Moon brought it home, however, with a good FO performance and took Game 1 for the Castaways.

Game 2 featured fewer surprises save the fact that Portal actually won 3 rounds to skip to the top of the leaderboard. After an unfortunate boot to the Taters BrattyKim, the C-Ways held the top 7 spots on the board. Moon came on in the end with a couple big vote-getters. Repeating last week's Anchor-to-FaceOff performance, Portal reached 30 points as well, following Moon's final round win. Moon took a Nick E. t-shirt back from Portal in the FO and the Castaways won Game 2.

Thanks to the Taters again for a great monthly match-up, some clever categories and even better acros. We look forward to another great match next time.

1/30/99 - Castaways vs Bifocalers

This match was played with regular rules and top 5 scoring. Present for the Castaways were Mfw, Rusty, Moon, Lynx, Hook, Cape, and Colton. The Clash of Clans match was right after this one, so several of us got in some early warmup for that tourney.

Game 1 was a Rusty show, as he dominated the field, winning the round easily. Mfw grabbed second, and other Castaways filled out the top 5 positions to ensure the cumulative point victory. Lynx, obviously holding back her best effort for the CofC match, grabbed an Anchor Girl trophy for her shelf. Final game score: 121-56.

Game 2 was a much closer battle, as Bifocalers Dog and Lee played excellent games for the ~0^0~'s. In the end, however, Mfw pulled away from the field to win the round, again going to FO with Rusty. Nice games you two!! The Castaways got the better of the other scoring positions and won the game, 113-66. Hook secured an Anchor Boy medallion in this one.

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the Bifocalers for a fun match, with some fine acroing. We'd love to do it again sometime, folks!

1/28/99 - Castaways vs Excalibur's Revenge

This match pitted the Castaways against the all-Lady crew of Excalibur's Revenge, in the lovely background of En Espanol. The match was played with regular rules and top 5 cumulative scoring. Present for the Castaways were Colton, Moon, Jennn, Bear, Lynx, Model, Portal (game 1) and Cape (part of game 2). The Acro bot was particularly nasty during the match, with several players being dropped, making scoring a nightmare.

Game 1 saw the Castaways get out to a fast start, and never look back. Colton won an early round and was promptly booted for his efforts. LadyBeth and LadyRhonwyn had similar experiances for the ERs. Avoiding the bot's wrath skillfully were Moon and Jennn, who played excellent games and went to FO. The Castaways grabbed the top 5 slots on the leaderboard (with Colton's 12 pts added back in), and won the game 117-53.

Game 2 saw the bot ease up on us a bit, though not completely. Cape tried to join us, subbing for Portal, but the lag finally caused him to get booted. This game was closer than game 1 throughout, but in the end Jennn and Moon again pulled away from the pack, reprising their faceoff from Game 1. Nice games you two! The ER's got positions 3-5, but the total went the Castaways' way, 91-64.

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the sword-wielding Ladies of Excalibur, this was a fun match! We'll see you again next month.

1/26/99 - Castaways vs Heavenly Halos

This match was played with regular acro rules, top 5 cumulative scoring, and hymns in the background. Wings were optional. Present for the Castaways were Rusty, Lynx, Jennn, Cape, Doc, Moon and Colton.

Game 1 saw Cape jump out to an early lead, followed by Rusty and Lynx. Colton got booted for 3 rounds (and hence will dispute the Anchor Boy crown he earned for the game :). The Halos made a comeback later in the game, with Angels Bren and Bear playing strong games. In the end, however, Cape and Rusty went to FO, and the Castaways held on for a 109-52 win.

Game 2 went the Castaways way early. Moon and Doc went to FO, with Rusty and Colton also breaking the 20 pt mark, and the Castaways grabbing the top 6 positions. Final score: 129-43. Jennn kindly kept the ^A^'s company and was awarded a splendid Anchor Girl trophy for her efforts.

This gave the match to the Castaways, 2-0. Thanks to the Halos for a fun match, we'll definitely have to do it again soon!

1/25/99 - Castaways vs Asylum Loonies

We were supposed to play Second Spring in this timeslot, but they had inadvertently double-booked themselves with the SLR's tonight, so we were forced to cancel. With some help from Hawkins, we managed to find another team that was available to play - the Loonies! So, ironically, we got our rematch with the last team to beat us....in our very next match. Present for the Castaways were Portal, Rusty, Moon, Jennn, Colton and 2 subs, Chad A and Anjuliz. Thanks for the excellent subbing, you two! The Loonies countered with their usual strong lineup. We decided on cumulative top 5 scoring rules for the match.

Game 1 saw Jennn jump out to the early lead, with Rusty and Moon also near the top of the leaderboard. The Loonies started slow, then made a charge toward the end of the game to make things exciting, helped out by an excellent 12-point round win by Shas. Eventually Moon and Jennn went to FO, and the Castaways held on for a 124-77 win and a 1-0 lead in the match. Portal captured a hard-earned Anchor Boy trophy for his collection.

Game 2 began much like game 1, at least initially. Moon got hot early and jumped out to a big lead. Portal joined him near the top of the leaderboard, giving the Castaways the early advantage. There was no comeback for the Loonies in this one, as Moon and Portal hung on to go to FO, and the Castaways took the game 109-47. Portal noted that "after garnering the match's first Anchor Boy award, (he) made a face-saving comeback in game 2". Colton, as a counterpoint, followed up a decent first game with a stirring Anchor Boy performance in #2.

This gave the match to the Castaways, 2-0. Thanks to the Loonies for playing a match with basically NO notice, we appreciated it! You folks are one of the top teams out there and we always enjoy the excellent competition!

1/18/99 - Castaways vs Asylum Loonies

This match was played with regular acro rules and cumulative (top 5) scoring. We had to move the match up to an earlier time slot, catching some of us unaware, and causing the usual scramble just before matchtime to get a full squad. Present for the Castaways were Jk, Rusty, Jennn, Moon, Portal, and Colton. AssieKay subbed for us also (thanks!). The Loonies countered with their usual collection of excellent acroers, setting the stage for a great match.

Game 1 was a battle from start to finish. Jennn and Moon got out to early leads for the Castaways, but Fafa and Alex joined them at the top of the leaderboard around midgame. It was then a sprint to the finish line, with Jennn finishing strong and taking the round, going to FO with Fafa. The Castaways got the better of the support positions, winning the game 103-92, even with Fafa's FO win.

Game 2 was a true classic in every sense of the word. Moon again got off to a good start, followed closely by Fafa and JBetts. Everyone else jockeyed for position, as the lead went back and forth during the game. The acros were incredible, making it tough to get points unless you wrote something truly inspired. The 7 letter rounds were especially hard on the voters, as 14 lengthy acros had to be fully examined to really pick a winner. At the end, Moon and Fafa went to FO, with the game basically tied. Fafa got the jump on Moon in round 1, and though Moon won the last 2 rounds, he couldn't catch up. Final FO score: 18-17 Fafa. Final game score: 96-90, Loonies.

Game 3 showed that the momentum had definitely swung in the Loonies' favor after the exciting finish of game 2. JBetts and C Blues got out to a big early lead for the Loonies, and the Castaways never really got back into it. Jbetts got booted, denying him a FO appearance, but C Blues hung on to win the round. Portal grabbed 2nd place going to FO, but the game was already decided by then, with the Loonies taking a 111-87 win, and with it the match, 2-1.

Congrats to the Loonies for 3 excellent games, you folks had some outstanding acros! This match ends a long win streak for us, but at least we lost to a team who definitely deserved the win. We're looking forward to the next rematch!

1/14/99 - Castaways vs Second Spring

This match was played with regular rules and Face Off scoring. Present for the Castaways (after a bit of shuffling) were Lynx, Jk, Bear, Colton, Moon, Doc, and Menace. The Springers were patient while we dealt with some early snert problems in the non-clan room, eventually forcing us to move to an Italian retreat.

Game 1 was a Doc virtuoso, as he hit 40 points to win the game easily. Moon hung on for a distant 2nd place finish, giving the Castaways the game and a 1-0 lead. Lynx and Jk(?) were co-Anchorettes in this one.

Game 2 (sorry, no pic)was part 2 of the Doc show, as he again wiped out the field and won easily. Moon (who told me not to mention anything about coattails) took 2nd, and the game went to the Castaways. Menace secured the Achor Boy award.

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the SS crew for the usual great company and excellent acros!

1/12/99 - Castaways vs Basic Grunts

After some frantic last-minute organizing, the Castaways met the Basic Grunts in our monthly match-o-rama. Present for the Castaways were Moon, Colton, Mfw, Juali, Cape, Model, and Lynx. We also had appearances from Jennn and Doc, who apparently saw a lineup they didn't like or something, because they left almost as soon as they arrived :) The match was played with regular rules and Face Off scoring.

Game 1 saw Moon and Juali jump out to an early lead for the Castaways, with BG_Judiama keeping the Grunts in the game. Moon eventually won the round, with Juali also making the FO, giving the Castaways the game and a 1-0 lead. Mfw was stuck with Anchor duty.

Game 2 was almost a replay of game 1, this time with Juali leading Moon to Face Off with some excellent acros. The rest of us hardly had a chance to play in this one! Colton played a solid game for Anchor Lad, dominating the competition for the coveted award.

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks as always to the BG's, we'll see you next month!

1/11/99 - Castaways vs Family Jewels

Tonight was our much anticipated rematch with some of our closest acro buddies, the Family Jewels! The rules for this one were face-off scoring and no couch rules, meaning mrsmodel could breathe a sigh of relief. Starring for the Castaways were RustyC, moonspell, Portal, hook, Bearette, mfw, and lynx.

Game 1 was Bearette's redemption for her recent self-proclaimed "acro funk". Only moonspell's last-round acro win prevented Bear from being the only acroer in double digits. After only 4 rounds, Bear and Moon went to face-off, securing the win for the Castaways.

Bearette slacked off a bit in Game 2, as it took her 5 rounds to finish off everybody else. RustyC was the lucky recipient of Bear's wrath in the face-off, and the match was won by the Castaways 2-0. Hook scored the coveted "Dual Anchor Boy" award, having to outduel Portal in game 2.

Congrats to the Family Jewels for a fun and lively match, and to Bear for breaking several Acro speed records!

1/5/99 - Castaways vs Acroholics

After some last minute scurrying to get everyone there, the Castaways met the Acroholics 'En Espanol'. The match was played with regular rules, top 5 cumulative scoring, and English as the primary language. Present for the Castaways were Cape, Juali, Jennn, Model, Moon, Menace, and Lynx.

Game 1 produced a number of great acros from both teams, which meant the voting was spread among a lot of players, which meant (whew) that the scores were quite high by game's end. Eventually the Castaways took charge, with Moon going to Face Off with Lynx, and Castaways holding the top 5 positions. Final game score: 121-55. Cape grabbed an Anchor Boy for his trophy shelf.

Game 2 was closer, with Lisa S and Mamaroma playing strong games for the 'holics, keeping them in the running until the end. However the Castaways again got the better of the top positions on the scoreboard, with Moon and Model going to Face Off. Final score: 95-70. Menace outbattled a few hopefuls for the night's final Anchor Boy award.

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to all the @@ folks for a fun and well-played match!

1/4/99 - Castaways vs Couch Taters

This match was played with regular (no couch) rules and Face Off scoring. Present for the Castaways were Jennn, Hook, Juali, Bear, Rusty, Colton, and (drum roll...) Fertikas (great to have you playing again!).

Game 1 was a long, high scoring battle which saw a large group of Castaways at the top of the scoreboard by game's end. Rusty took the round, but unfortunately (for us), the Taters had an ace up their sleeve, as Fire(P) edged out Bear for 2nd place. An exciting face off ensued, with Rusty emerging victorious, giving the Castaways the game!

Game 2 saw Juali zoom out to a big lead early, with Rusty and Fert joining her later in the round at the top of the leaderboard. The Taters weren't through, however, and a spirited rally by Kilroy and Fire fell just short, with Juali and Rusty going to Face Off.

This made the match score 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the Taters for a great match, with 2 very exciting games! We're looking forward (with fear) to next month's match with couch rules :)).

12/30/98 - Castaways vs Asylum Loonies

This match was played with regular rules and cumulative scoring. Present for the Castaways were Hook, Jennn, Model, Moon, Mfw, Rusty, and Menace.

Game 1 was high scoring, with Model, Moon and Rusty all breaking the 25 point barrier. In the end, Model and Moon went to Face Off, and the Castaways took the game 150 - 78. Hook dominated the battle for Anchor Boy in this one.

Game 2 saw the teams exchange wins almost every round, making for a pretty close game throughout. Late in the round, Moon pulled away from the field, with he and Model again going to Face Off (nice match you two!). The final tally in this one: 116 - 61 Castaways. Jennn won a spirited battle for the evening's final Anchor Girl crown.

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the Loonies for the usual fun games!

12/29/98 - Castaways vs Halos

Fully rested after the Christmas break, the Castaways got back to playing with a match versus the angels of Team Halos. This match was played with regular Acro rules and cumulative (top 5) scoring. Present for the Castaways were Cape, Hook, Menace, Juali (welcome aboard!), Lynx, Moon, and Colton.

Game 1 was something new for the Castaways - we actually chose some categories! Maybe it's an early New Year's resolution, who knows, but it seemed to work well in this case. Moonspell set a new Castaways scoring mark with a 43 point game (woo hoo!), Lynx took second, and we grabbed the top half of the leaderboard, winning 138-49. Cape held off several challengers for the night's initial Anchor Boy award.

Game 2 was a closer affair, but in the end the Castaways again pulled away to a convincing win. Juali and Lynx wnet to face off in this one, the final score ending up at 124-59. After 100+ team games, Moon walked away with his very first Anchor Boy award in this one!

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the Angels for a fun match, we enjoyed the friendly banter and excellent acros!

12/21/98 - Castaways vs Family Jewels

Tonight was our much anticipated match with Tom, Trystero, Moon-Sammy, and the rest of the Family Jewels! Present for the Castaways were Jennn, lynx, menace, capecodder, Rusty, doc, and moon.

Game 1 was a Castaways romp, with the final ending up 105-48. Jennn won the round quickly, with moon, Rusty and Tom from the Jewels' in a tie for 2nd. Tom won the tiebreaker, but Jennn beat him in the face-off for the five point bonus.

Game 2 began the same way, but the Family Jewels staged a furious comeback, winning 4 of the last 5 rounds. Tom surged ahead to win the round, with doc and moon close behind. In the end, Tom and doc went to face-off with the Castaways leading by 8 to ensure the victory. Tom won the face-off to make the final Castaways 89, Family Jewels 86.

Thanks to the Jewels for a great match and some fun competition! We're looking forward to the rematch in a couple of weeks!

12/17/98 - Castaways vs 2nd Spring

This was a rare Couch rules match for the Castaways, to the surprise of most of our players. Present were Hook, Portal, Jk, Jennn, Menace, Moon, and Colton. The Springers arrived with a full set of players sporting festive holiday nicknames! The match was played with cumulative (top 5) scoring rules.

Game 1 was a seesaw battle, with some amazing acros being produced by both squads. Moonspell caught fire halfway through the game to jump to the lead at game's end. After professing his distaste for Couch games (and picking "GA" for his category after a round win), Portal turned it around and snagged second place. A large group of players from each team had scores of 20+, but the Castaways got the better of the cumulative totals, winning by a 131-96 margin.

Game 2 saw the Castaways get the hang of the category-choosing thing, with some interesting and thought-provoking categories appearing. The Springers got the early jump in this game with some inspired acros. Then Jennn and Portal got hot for the Castaways, giving us the lead and some confidence. Eventually the Castaways dominated the top of the leaderboard, with several Springers close behind. Again, this was a high scoring game with many 20+ scores. Portal and Jennn went to FO, and the game went to the Castaways, 137-84.

This made the final match score 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the Springers for some great acros and a well-played match!

12/14/98 - Castaways vs Serial Killers

This match was a late addition to our calendar, and of course that meant we had to struggle to field a full team! Present for the Castaways were Colton, Moonspell, Mfw, and Jk. Thanks to Ridge, Sirilyan, and Holly Juali for being subs for us, you were awesome! The match was played with regular acro rules and Face Off scoring.

Game 1 was a Moonspell show from start to end, as he dominated the field to win the round easily. Unfortunately, no other Castaway could keep up the pace, and SuperFagSK played an excellent game for the SKs to make Face Off. In a close round, Moon took the FO and gave the Castaways a 1-0 lead in the match.

The SKs made a nice comeback in game 2, with PATGEHR SK cruising to an easy round win. Colton grabbed second to go to Face Off, but Pat squeaked out a 2 point win in the FO to tie the match at 1-1.

The deciding game 3 went the Castaways' way again, with Moonspell regaining his game 1 form to take the round, Jk taking second. This gave the Castaways the game, and the match, 2-1.

Thanks to the SK folks for a well-played match, and for being patient as we rounded up a team! Congrats to everyone on our team as well - this was our 50th match win as a team, and our 100th game win as well. Way to go!!

12/08/98 - Castaways vs Basic Grunts

Our ongoing rivalry with the BGs continued, with Mfw, Jennn, Cape, Lynx, Colt and Moon as Castaway regulars, and Major Tom as our secret weapon/sub. This match was played with regular rules and cumulative (top 5) scoring.

Game 1 saw the Castaways jump out to the early lead and hold on from there for the win. Lynx blew away the field to go to FO, with Colton grabbing second. The 5 pt bonus made the final game score 113-55. Cape oubattled Moon for the Anchor Boy trophy.

Game 2 began as another Castaway romp, but ended up being much closer than the previous game as the Grunts mounted a late charge to get back into the game. Moon almost hit 40 points in winning the round, with Cape rebounding from his game 1 showing to also make the FO. Final game score: 123-79. Lynx wrestled the Anchor Girl award away from a trio of hopefuls.

This gave the match to the Castaways, 2-0. Thanks to all the Grunts for the usual inspired acroing and fun company!

12/07/98 - Castaways vs Excalibur's Revenge

This match was played with regular acro rules and cumulative (top 5) scoring. Present for the Castaways were Lynx, Octa, Menace, Jennn, Bear, Moon, and Colton. The night's ongoing mystery: who were the disguised ER players?

Game 1 was an exciting duel, with both teams winning rounds with some excellent acros. The Castaways jumped out to an early lead, but the ERs made a late comeback, winning 4 of the last 6 rounds. Eventually 7 players topped 19 points, and Moon won the round, going to FO with Sir Galahad. The Castaways got the better of the 2-5 positions in this one, and Moon's FO win made the final score 108-81 Castaways. Menace outfought several contenders for the night's first Anchor Boy award.

The Castaways jumped out to an early lead in game 2 and never looked back. Lynx had a 16 point round in this game (woo hoo!) and eventually she and Bear went to FO. In all, 5 Castaways topped the 25 point mark by game's end, with the final tally being 145-62. Menace made headlines with his second Anchor Boy award of the evening!

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. This was a fun match, and it was great to see old Catwalk friends Taqua, SinginByrd, Kitkatty, NuttyD, and Rascat who unmasked themselves after game 2! Excellent playing folks, hope we can do it again soon!

12/03/98 - Castaways vs Couch Taters

This match was played with normal Acro rules and Face Off scoring. We had lots of connection problems during the match, so the lineups were a bit scrambled at times. Present for the Castaways were Jennn, Mfw (welcome aboard!), Moon, Colt, Jk, and Hook. Lynx played in game 1 until the bot booted her, and Cape played in game 2.

Game 1 was a close one from beginning to end. The two teams exchanged winning acros almost every round, with neither side getting a clear advantage. At the end, Moon and Hawkins~t~ went to Face Off. In an extremely close FO, Moon squeaked out the win, giving the Castaways a 1-0 lead in the match. Colt grabbed Anchor Boy honors in a runaway.

Game 2 started more positively for the Castaways with several early round winners going our way. However toward the game's end, Vixen~t~ got hot and ended up winning the round, with our newcomer Mfw also making the Face Off. Another close FO saw Mfw come through with the win, giving the game and the match to the Castaways! Jennn and Cape shared the Anchor 'Player' award in this one.

Thanks to the Taters for 2 extremely well-played games, we sure enjoyed it and are looking forward to our next match!

12/02/98 - Castaways vs Tonga Room Buccaneers

After months of playing games in neutral rooms, the Castaways played their first 'away' game, facing the Buccaneers in the Tonga Room. Present for the Castaways were Bear, Colt, Lynx, Jennn, Cape, Model, and Moon. The match was played with cumulative (top 5) scoring and regular Acro rules.

Game 1 was close and competitive right from the start. Jennn and Moon got out to good starts for the Castaways, while Logan hovered around the lead for the P}s. In the end, Jennn and Moon went to Face Off, and the Castaways got the better of the support positions on the leaderboard, winning 88-49. Lynx and Model battled throughout for the coveted Anchor Girl crown, and in the end were forced to share it.

Game 2 was a higher scoring affair, with 5 players over 17 points by game's end. Cape and Jennn (nice match, Jennn, thank goodness for those commercial breaks, eh?) led the way for the Castaways, eventually going to Face Off, and helping push the team to a 124-59 win. Colton showed the team how to dominate the competition for the Anchor Boy title in this one.

This made the final match score 2-0, Castaways. Thanks to the P}s for patience with the bot, and for getting everyone to the match despite all the connection problems. This was a fun match and we'll definitely have to do it again.

12/01/98 - Castaways vs L's Angels

Present for the Castaways in this match were Colt, Moon, Bear, Menace, Jk, Portal and Cape. The Angels lined up an impressive arrays of L's to challenge us. The match was played with regular acro rules and cumulative scoring.

Game 1 was a close battle all the way, as the contrasting styles of the two teams made sure winners impossible to spot. The Angels seemed to prefer blondes, redheads, and cuddling, while the Castaways tended toward phrases needing either a dictionary or a fluency in Yoda-speak to fully appreciate. In the end, Moonspell won the round, but lost the Face Off to L'Smiley(?). However, the Castaways won the cumulative score in a squeaker, 79-71. Cape was victimized by a slow start in this one, winning the coveted Anchor Boy award.

In game 2, redhead acros were everywhere, even on categories where they didn't belong! Apparently, however, all the redhead votes for the night were used up in game 1, as the Castaways picked up the pace in this one, taking over the top half of the leaderboard early on, and never looking back. In the end, Colt and Cape went to Face Off (nice turnaround there Capester!), and the Castaways won the game, 161-59. Menace secured the big Anchor_o in this one :)

Thanks to the Angels for a lively match, and some fun chat!

11/30/98 - Castaways vs Couch Rules

This match was played with regular rules and Face Off scoring. The Castaways' lineup consisted of Colton, Lynx, Bear, Hook, Portal, Moon and Jennn. Injuries were a common theme for the team as Colton (shoulder), Portal (finger), and Moon (brain) all played under physical duress.

Game 1 was a Castaways romp as we took over the top half of the leaderboard and won easily. Moon and Colton went to Face Off, with Hook getting the night's initial Anchor Boy trophy.

Game 2 was a *completely* different story, a high scoring, seesaw game that saw many lead changes and remained close until the very end. Bear and Jennn jumped out to the early lead for the Castaways, but Soul*CR* got on a roll and the CR's rallied to own four of the top 5 positions at the game's midway point. Then it was the Castaways' turn to make a charge, with Lynx and Bear again reclaiming the top spots. Moon and Colt finished close behind as Lynx and Bear went to Face Off, while Hook held off fierce challenges from several teammates to win a rare daily double in the Anchor Boy category!

This gave the game to the Castaways, making the final match score 2-0. Thanks to all the *CR*s for a great match, and an exciting finish!

11/21/98 - Castaways vs Silver Bullets

This was a rare Saturday match for the Castaways, played with regular rules and Face Off scoring. The unofficial 'adult' version of the match was played informally afterwards :) Present for the Castaways were Moon, Jennn, Colt, Doc, Lynx, Bear, and Cape.

Game 1 was a rather long, drawn out affair with many players reaching the 20+ point range. In the end, Moon and Jennn went to FO, giving the game to the Castaways. Cape hung on for the prized Anchor Boy award in this one.

Game 2 was a complete contrast from the first, as Moon decided to take over the match, winning by a 3-1 margin over the rest of the field. Colt got a distant second to clinch the game for the Castaways. Doc outdueled a group of hopefuls for the night's second Anchor Boy.

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the Bullets for a spirited match!

11/20/98 - Castaways vs Chaos

The long anticipated rematch with Chaos was played with cumulative scoring and regular acro rules. Present for the Castaways were Moon, Cape, Model, Jk, Bear, Lynx, and Colt. Chaos countered with a lineup of Chadzilla, Batsis, Hoju, Ace2, Mamaromma, Sunni, and Exploder2. Many comments were made about the caliber of this lineup being right up there with an 'all-star' squad. There was little doubt that *this* match would be something special.

Game 1 was a lengthy affair, featuring 6 players above 25 points by game's end. Batsis and Hoju led the Chaos contingent, with Hoju ringing up a 14 point win in one round. Lynx, Jk, Moon and Cape helped the Castaways stay close during the match, and at the end Lynx and Jk pulled ahead to make it to Face off, with Moon also breaking the 30 point barrier and Cape barely missing at 29. Despite the excellent play by Batsis and Hoju, the Castaways got the best of the support positions and won the cumulative score with a whopping total of 178, to Chaos's 93 (a score that would win many games). Model got an undeserved Anchor Girl award with 16 points, beating 5 of the 7 Chaos members but nobody else on her team :)

Bearette decided to start game 2 alone, winning the first 2 rounds and jumping to a large lead over the field. Not to be outdone, Moon took some time off from his verbal sparring with Batsis and Exploder to enter a few excellent acros and eventually passed Bear on his way to winning the round. Bear also made the face off, and the Castaways dominated a much faster game, winning 102-31. Lynx ended her streak of 3 consecutive face off appearances in style, winning a coveted Anchor Girl award, and our first Daily Double recipient since Doc managed the feat a few matches ago.

Final match score - 2 games to none, Castaways. Thanks to the excellent members of Chaos for some of the best acroing we've seen in a long while. Picking a winner from 14 excellent choices was just about impossible in many rounds, a tribute to the quality of the players. We're looking forward to our next meeting!

11/19/98 - Castaways vs Basic Grunts

Doc captained the team for this one, here's his summary:
The game was played with face-off rules, and only 4 Castaways showed up. Present were lynx, capecodder, Portal, and docgc. Luckily doc managed to bribe {--EJ the sub and klutz (sans uniform) to join in. Basic Grunts played with seven.

Game one was a long one, as the teams took turns winning rounds. BG_Bold was near the top of the board, along with most of the Castaways, but in the end doc and lynx ended up in face-off. capecodder was booted halfway through the game when he was in the lead, but returned to take the faux anchor boy position, although, as he has already stated, he will deny it :)

Game two was much quicker, as the Castaways won all the rounds. Jennn popped in for a quick visit in the last round, and won it, handing {--Portal the coveted anchor boy award. Special achievement award also goes to Portal for taking moonspell's place to (at doc's request), mock and berate doc throughout the match. In the end, lynx (well done lynxy!) and capecodder (getting revenge on the bot) entered face-off together.

Thanks for the fun games, BGers, was great!

11/12/98 - Castaways vs Asylum Loonies

Present for the Castaways were Moon, Model, Cape, Jk, Octa, Menace and Lynx. The match was played with cumulative (top 5) scoring rules. This became a challenge as the boot bot was particularly active in this match.

Game 1 was a seesaw battle with some excellent acros on both sides. In the end, Octa and Moon went to Face Off and the rest of the Castaways filled in the upper scoring slots, giving us an 86-46 win.

Game 2 was a closer match, with the Castaways getting out to an early lead which disappeared quickly as Yose of the AL's got hot and moved into the lead, eventually going to Face Off with Moon. Again the Castaways got the better of the support positions, and Moon's win in the Face Off gave a final score of 89-68, Castaways.

Final match score - 2 games to 0, Castaways. Thanks to all the Asylum Loonie's folks for some excellent playing and fun chat. We definitely need to do this more often.

11/10/98 - Castaways vs Acrobats

This match was played with Face Off scoring rules. Present for the Castaways were Colton, Doc, Moon, Jennn, Portal, Bear and Cape.

Game 1 was dominated by the Castaways with one exception: Raven from the 'bats, who played a great game and went to Face Off with Moon. In a close duel, Moon eeked out a win, giving game 1 to the Castaways.

Game 2 again featured Raven as she played a second excellent game and went to Face Off with Doc. In another close finish, Doc won the Face Off and the game for the Castaways.

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the Acrobats for some lively, entertaining games! Congrats also to Raven who was outstanding all night!

11/09/98 - Castaways vs Acro Faction

Present for the Castaways were Moonspell (for a short time), Doc, Model, Jennn, Hook, Lynx, Menace and Octa. The match was played with regular acro rules and top 5 cumulative scoring.

Game 1. Where to begin. Well, let me say that this match ended up being quite controversial. We thought that the AF players were purposely voting their own acros throughout the first game, acros featuring such phrases as 'beautiful sunsets', or all things 'cuddly', 'romantic' or 'tender'. We in turn were accused of 'tagging' our acros by using punctuation like ":" and "..." in them. Content was apparently not important to the AF squad, only the tipoffs that allowed them to distinguish their acros from ours. After 4 rounds of getting almost NO AF votes, we figured out what they were up to. Moonspell quit the game in protest, leaving Doc to manage the team in his absence. After a period of shouted accusations, each side decided to continue on and play out the match in the hopes that things would improve, which they did. Game 1 went to AF, 93-58, as they won 5 out of the 7 rounds.

Game 2 was a bit more civilized and uneventful. The Castaways took 6 of the 9 rounds, but the real story was AF's EternalElvis who won 3 of the first 4 rounds and was well on his way to Face Off when the Acrobot intervened and booted him, a really bad break. He was able to keep his point total, but the AF team would have been better off with an early face off in this one, as the Castaways won the remaining rounds and won the game, 123-67 with Jennn and Doc going to Face Off.

Game 3 was a long match, with the Castaways winning 7 of 10 rounds to again outpoint the AF folks, this time 136-64. Model and Jennn went to Face Off in this one. For the record, *1 of 7* Castaways winners had an offending "..." section, while *2 of 3* AF winners managed to mention 'romantic' and 'sunsets'. EE's winner, of course, was the AF exception: sorry you had to be dragged down into this, King, you're an excellent player and a credit to the AF team.

Final match score: 2-1 Castaways. Thanks to the AF team for a competitive match, next time let us know what punctuation we're expected to not use so we can avoid all of this silliness, ok?

11/07/98 - Castaways vs YC High Fivers

A rare weekend match for the Castaways! Present were Portal, Lynx, Moon, Hook, Jennn, Bear and Cape. The match was played with regular acro rules and cumulative scoring.

Game 1 was a Castaways romp despite a shocking *2* categories chosen in succession! Bravely weathering the storm of controversy (that he created), Moon won the round with Cape (fresh from his 'benching':) joining him in the Face Off. The Castaways also grabbed the top 6 positions, making the final tally 96-37.

Game 2 saw a resurgence among the YC'ers, as Q zoomed to the top of the leaderboard, followed by a host of Castaways. Portal and Q went to Face Off, with Port emerging victorious, adding 5 pts to the Castaway score. That was just icing on the cake, however, as the Castaways owned most of the top leaderboard slots, and won the game 97-53.

Thanks to the YCHF gang for some excellent acros and the usual great company!

11/05/98 - Castaways vs Cancunites

This match was played with regular acro rules and cumulative (top 5) scoring. Present for the Castaways were Colton, Jk, Lynx, Bear, Menace, Doc, and Moonspell.

Game 1 was a high scoring affair with many players grouped between 10 and 20 points. Moonspell jumped out to a lead and maintained it throughout the game to go to Face Off with CC_MJ of the Cancunites. However, the Castaways had 5 of the top 6 slots, ensuring them of the cumulative point victory. Final game score: 100-58 Castaways.

Game 2 was also a high scoring game, but this time the Castaways held the edge from the start. Moon and Doc went to Face Off with the Castaways holding 6 of the top 7 slots. Final game score: 105-42 Castaways. Humorous acro award of the night to Jk for "Lei me: Hawaiian mating call."

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the Cancunites for a well played, enjoyable match; let's do it again sometime!

11/03/98 - Castaways vs FortyTude

Our first match against the 40-somethings of FortyTude proved to be very popular with the Castaways, as 11 of us were around at gametime. In the end, Colton, Bear, Jk, and Doc sat this one out, leaving Moon, Octa, Mrsmodel, Cape, Jennn, Lynx, and Menace to challenge the 40's. The match was played with Face Off scoring (though it was scheduled as top 5 cumulative :).

Game 1 was a 2 player show, with Moon and Cape winning 2 rounds apiece and going to Face Off, ensuring a Castaways' win. This was also a very quick game, taking only 5 rounds to complete. Menace secured the evening's first coveted 'Anchor Boy' award!

Game 2 proved more interesting (unless you're Cape or Moon). The Castaways jumped out to the early lead, but 40Guru made a charge on an 'Internal Organs' category question to zoom into the lead. Jennn, looking for redemption for actually choosing a category (Moon seemingly can't focus with such restrictions :), grabbed second place and went to Face Off with 40Guru. With the game on the line, Jennn produced 3 excellent acros and took the Face Off, 24-12! Octa made a late charge to win his first 'Anchor Boy' award, barely edging out a group of Castaway hopefuls!

This gave the match to the Castaways, 2-0. Thanks to FortyTude for some great games, and some great fun as well!

10/28/98 - Castaways vs Happy Hour

Another match, another standing-room-only turnout for the Castaways as 10 of us showed up to acro against the couch-based Happy Hour gang. In the end, Menace and Hook sat this one out, and Colton subbed for Capecodder in game 2 to get our 7 player lineup. Playing both games were Octa, Moon, Lynx, Bear, Jennn and Portal. Meanwhile, the HH'ers were scrambling to field a team, and eventually had some late arrivals and *CR* subs come in to fill out the lineup. The match was played with normal acro rules and Face Off scoring.

Game 1 began with the Castaways inching ahead early, until Octa took charge with a series of excellent acros to leapfrog the competition. Eventually he and Portal went to Face Off, giving the game to the Castaways. In all, we took the top 4 positions in this one. In a spirited battle, Cape held off a determined effort by Moon to grab the coveted Anchor Boy position, assuring himself of a relaxing break for game 2 of the match.

Colton replaced Cape in this game, and worked hard to live up to the Anchor Boy tradition of the position. At the other end of the spectrum, Moon dominated the game, running up a 39 point total to win going away. Bear grabbed second, again assuring the Castaways of the win.

Thanks to the Happy Hour crew for a fun match despite the early scrambling for players and rooms!

10/26/98 - Castaways vs Toaster Philes

Present for the Castaways were Moonspell, Hook, Lynx, Mrsmodel (welcome back!), Jk, Doc, and Bear. The match was played with cumulative scoring rules, top 5 only. Doc performed admirably without eyes or lips (the cape was very helpful), while Moon took out his frustration with the opposite sex on the Philes.

Game 1 started with Moon winning rounds 1 and 2, then cruising to an easy win. ~TP~Distract finished second for the Philes, with Moon taking the Face Off for the 5 pt bonus. The Castaways filled in the top of the leaderboard and easily won the cumulative total, 81-34.

Game 2 was more of a high scoring affair, but the Castaways were in control throughout, winning 6 of the 8 rounds. Lynx and Moon went to Face Off, giving the Castaways the 5 pt bonus and making the final total 121 - 51.

Final match score: 2 games to 0, Castaways. Thanks for a great match, TPs, you're all excellent acroers!

10/21/98 - Castaways vs Second Spring

This was the Castaways third match in as many nights, but there was no evidence of Acro fatigue in this one! Present were Doc, Hook, Lynx, Moon, Ferty (game 1), Portal (game 2), and Capecodder (game 2). Nolij subbed for us in this one - thanks! The match was played with normal acro rules and Face Off scoring.

Game 1 was a Castaway runaway, with Moonspell and Fertikas duking it out in the face off. In all, the Castaways grabbed the top four spots and took the match lead, 1-0.

Game 2 was a battle all the way, both on the scoreboard and with the Net as lag and boots seemed to be the rule. In the end, Portal and AGameLvr went to face off. In a fitting end to a close match, the face off was tied at 18 each, with Portal getting the win for the Castaways based on his higher game total! Excellent game everyone! With the win, the Castaways took the match, 2-0.

Thanks to all the Second Springers for some great acroing and a fun match!

10/20/98 - Castaways vs Basic Grunts

Our rematch against the Grunts had Moon, Colton, Menace_o, Jennn, Bear, Lynx, and Capecodder present for the Castaways. This game was played with cumulative scoring and normal acro rules.

Game 1 was close all the way with some great acros for both sides. In the end, BG_RustyC and Jennn went to face off, but the Castaways got the better of the support positions and took the game, 87-73.

Game 2 showed a new look for the Castaways with Menace_o and Colton jumping to the early lead and eventually making Face Off. Menace's "Mississippi ends in delta's flow" for the "Bodies of Water" category won a whopping 10 votes in one round! Again, the Castaways filled the support positions and won the game by a 118-56 margin, taking the match 2-0.

Thanks to the BG's for some inspired acros, and the usual great company! See you next time!

10/19/98 - Castaways vs Dome Rules

Apparently nobody told the match schedulers that this was National Skip Your Acro Team Match night, so the Castaways were forced recruit some subs for the match. Present for the Castaways were Moonspell, Lynx and Bearette. Subbing for the team were Jib, Lisa S, Cubby, and Chipps. Klutz subbed for our sub (Chipps) in game 2. Thanks to everyone for helping out! The match was played with normal Acro rules and Face Off scoring.

Game 1 proved that our subs mesh well with the team, as the Castaways won all 5 rounds and took the top 5 places on the scoreboard. Jib and Lynx went to Face Off, giving the game to the Castaways.

Game 2 was an insant replay of game 1, at least scoring-wise. The Castaways won all 6 rounds, with Moonspell and Cubby making it to Face Off. This gave the game to the Castaways, and the match as well, 2-0.

Thanks again to our fantastic subs and to the Dome Rules gang for letting us bring them in!

10/13/98 - Castaways vs Basic Grunts

The first of our now weekly matches vs the BGs turned out to be quite the classic! Present for the Castaways were Lynx, Capecodder, Moonspell, Jennn, Docgc, Leaf, and Fertikas. Bearette replaced Leaf for game #2. The match was played with Face Off scoring and regular rules.

Game 1 was a long, exciting battle featuring superb acros from both teams. In the end, 7 players reached 20 points (6 of them Castaways!), with Lynx and Capecodder going to face off, clinching the win for the Castaways. It was noted during the match (and since) that this was one of the better games we've seen in a long time!

Game 2 was not quite as long, but had plenty of great acroing and some endgame excitement as well, as Moonspell and Luved from the BGs went to Face Off. Moonspell emerged victorious, giving the Castaways the game, and the match, 2 - 0.

Thanks BGs for some lively, high quality games; we're already looking forward to next week's rematch!

10/12/98 - Castaways vs Couch Taters

Present for the Castaways were Moonspell, Menace_o, Capecodder, Hook, Fertikas, Jennn and Octa (welcome aboard!!). Bearette replaced Cape for game #2. The rules were regular Acro, Face-Off scoring. A sense of humor was optional, but fortunately everyone brought one :)

Game 1 went the Castaways' way early and often. Moonspell dominated the game, winning by almost a 2-1 margin over the rest of the field. Menace grabbed 2nd to assure a Castaways win, with Octa taking 3rd.

After some player shuffling (Bear arrived, Cape left, Kodie and Hawkins swapped places for the Taters), game 2 pretty much picked up where game 1 left off. Ferty dusted the field in this one, with Bear taking 2nd to again assure the Castaways of the win. Jennn and Octa also played strong games.

Final score - 2 games to 0, Castaways. Thanks as always to the Taters for a fun match!

10/06/98 - Castaways vs Moms in Cyberspace

After a bit of a layoff, the Castaways got back into action vs Moms in Cyberspace. Present for the Castaways were Bearette, Menace_o, Capecodder, Jennn, Jk, Moonspell and Colton. Doc volunteered to sit this match out at the last minute. The match was played with cumulative scoring rules.

Game 1 saw a crowd of Castaways at the top of the leaderboard, and one MIC - kalsmom! After a fairly long match, Cape and kalsmom-MIC went to FO, but the issue had already been decided with the Castaways holding down most of the top positions. Cape won the FO, and with the 5 pt bonus the final score was 124 - 57, Castaways.

Game 2 was a Moonspell solo act, as he dominated the game from start to end, finishing the rest of us off in only 5 rounds! Jennn grabbed second to assure FO points for the Castaways as well. Final score:80 - 37. Final match score: 2 games to none, Castaways.

A big thanks to the MIC'ers for some excellent games and for playing with some 'under the weather' teammates!

10/01/98 - Castaways vs Rocket Scientrists

This match was rescheduled from the previous night due to Acro server problems. The short notice meant trouble for the RSers, as they could only field 4 players for the match. The rules were top 4 cumulative, so we played the match anyhow. Present for the Castaways were Portal, Leaf, Jennn (game 1), Lynx, Capecodder, Bearette (game 2), Doc, and Moonspell.

This was one of the first team matches for the RSers, and they appeared to have the 'opening game jitters' in game 1. The Castaways won each round, with Lynx and Doc going to FO. Final game score: 101 - 22.

Game 2 was a more competitive contest, especially after a 15 point acro from the RSers' Rapid Eyes! In the end however, the Castaways pulled ahead, with Portal and Capecodder going to FO. Final game score: 96 - 44.

Thanks to the *BU* gang for an excellent effort while shorthanded, you folks are a fun team to play!

09/24/98 - Castaways vs SuperSpa Floaters

Under the watchful eye of Shania Twain (so Ferty tells us), the Castaways met the SuperSpa Floaters. The match was played with Face Off rules. Castaways present were Fertikas (with the mythical Shania), Doc, Jk (in a hurricane watch), Moonspell, Bearette, Capecodder, and Colton.

After a few minutes delay waiting for the Acroboot bot to leave the Floaters alone, Game 1 began. Amazingly finding time to enter acros while debating the merits of the aforementioned Twain, Doc and Fert dominated this game and went to Face Off, giving the Castaways a 1-0 lead. Colton secured the coveted 'Anchor Boy' title in this one.

Game 2 saw a reversal of fortunes somewhat. Jk jumped out to a huge early lead, with Sunni from the SSF's holding 2nd, much to the delight of the Floaters. However the Castaways came on strong, and Capecodder and Colton eventually made it to Face Off (Bear was also tied for 2nd). Wanting a complete resume for the night, Doc added an 'Anchor Boy' award to his previous 'Game Winner' title. The win gave the Castaways the match, 2-0.

Thanks to the Floaters for putting up with all the nuisance of the Acrobot and, of course, our chat-monopolizing team members. It was a fun match!

09/22/98 - Castaways vs Yacht Club High Fivers

This match was played with Face Off scoring rules. Present for the Castaways were Bearette, Lynx, Doc, Capecodder, Fertikas, Moonspell and Colton. The chatbox banter in this match may have set an Acro record for lunacy :)

Game 1 went the Castaways' way right from the start, with Castaways winning the first 5 rounds, and 6 out of 7 total. Moon and Cape went to Face Off, and the game went to the Castaways.

Game 2 was a much closer affair. The Castaways again jumped out to the early lead, winning rounds 1-4, but the YC's won the next 2 rounds and ~~J~~UP barely missed the Face Off. In the end, Moon and Doc went to Face Off and assured another game win for the Castaways. Final match score: 2 games to 0, Castaways.

Thanks to all the YCHF team for a great match and lots of laughter in the chat!

09/21/98 - Castaways vs Toaster Philes

Despite *another* bout of "Snert-itis", the Castaways squared off against the Toaster Philes in what turned out to be a fabulous match. Present for the Castaways were Colton, Jk, Bearette, Doc, Hook, Moonspell and Portal (who arrived after the room was de-snerted in game 2). The scoring rules were cumulative (top 4) with a 5pt FO bonus.

Game 1 set the tone for the match. ~TP~Distract jumped out to a big early lead and threatened to run away with the game for the TPs. However the Castaways battled back and Doc jumped into 2nd place with a cast of teammates behind him, helping the Castaways to a 98-77 victory.

Game 2 was a replay of game 1, with the lead seesawing back and forth between the teams as the rounds progressed. At the end, ~TP~Distract and Jk went to Face Off, but the game had already been decided, with the TP's taking an 82-71 win.

The deciding game 3 was yet another classic, with the TPs getting out to an early lead, and the Castaways staging yet another late rally. Jk dropped with 18 points midway through the game, but Portal, Moonspell, Doc and Bear came on strong at the end of the game. Moonspell hit 40pts in going to Face Off with Doc, giving the Castaways a 110-73 win, and the match, 2 games to 1.

Thanks to everyone on the Toaster Philes for great playing, and lots of patience with the annoying Snerts! We're looking forward to our next rematch!

09/19/98 - Castaways vs Acrobats

This was Moonspell's "forgotten" match, as the Bats claimed he had set up the match, but it was forgotten before it made it to our schedule. Nonetheless, 6 Castaways were able to play: Capecodder, Lynx, Portal, Moonspell, Jennn, and Doc. RustyC was kind enough to sub as our 7th player. The match was played using FaceOff scoring rules.

We had snert problems right from the beginning, with one snert (who had bothered the Acrobats before) following us from room to room. Eventually we all flooded a room and made ourselves invisible.

Game 1 began with a strong performance from the Acrobats' Raven, with Rusty and Moon on her tail. Unfortunately, in the middle of the match, Raven got booted, leaving moon and Rusty 1-2 in the scoring, and those two went to face-off.

Game 2 produced more aggravation as Raven couldn't reconnect and we were left with an open space in the room. Our snert found us once again, to everyone's aggravation. Rusty volunteered to sit out and we played 6 on 6 for the remainder of the game. Moon and Jennn both played strong games, going to face-off to win the match for the Castaways, 2-0.

The Special Achievement award for the evening goes to Doc, who describes Game 2 as follows: "My 3rd place finish, in game 2, was perhaps the work of God. Following my recent nasopharyngeal surgery, i came down with a deathly fever, and was delirious for the entire game. Only with semi-conscious recollection of the game, I vaguely remember this bright light, this tunnel, and then, looking at the scoreboard, my name in 3rd :)"

Despite all the problems, thanks to the Acrobats for a strong showing and your great spirit!

09/17/98 - Castaways vs Alley Cats

Another match, another standing-room-only turnout for the Castaways, as 9 of us showed up ready to match wits with the Cats. We started game 1 with a lineup of Bearette, Menace, Lynx, Jk, Moonspell, Hook, and Fertikas, but Capecodder jumped in when Jk dropped early in the game. Colton beat up on hapless acroers in other rooms while staying available as a sub. The match used Face-Off rules for scoring.

Game 1 was a close, hard-fought match with many great acros from both teams. At the end, Fertikas and Bearette made it to Face Off, giving the game to the Castaways. (Fert noted that this was his FIRST Face Off win ever in a team match! Woo hoo!).

Game 2 saw the Castaways hitting their stride with lots of excellent acros while winning 6 of the 7 rounds. Capecodder and Lynx went to Face Off, giving the game to the Castaways! Final match score: 2-0 Castaways.

Thanks to all the Castaways who showed up to play, it's sure fun to have the 'problem' of too many players! Also, thanks to the Alley Cats for a fun match - your reputation as a entertaining team is certainly deserved!

09/14/98 - Castaways vs Flying Toasters

After the excitement of the Clash of Clans tourney, there was some concern about whether the Castaways might suffer a letdown in their next match against the Flying Toasters. This concern was put to rest early on when no less than 10 Castaways showed up for the match! So much for apathy. We finally settled on a team of Bearette, Lynx, Docgc, Menace, Hook, Moonspell and Colton for game 1, with Fertikas subbing for Colton in game 2. Leaf also made an appearance but we were unable to coordinate his entry into game 2 (I'm blaming ICQ :). The match was played with cumulative scoring rules (top 6), as the Toasters only had 6 players.

Game 1 was a 2-man show as Doc raced off to a big lead, followed by Moonspell. Everyone else was grouped together some 15-20 points behind by the end of the game. The Castaways got the automatic 5pt FO bonus and took the game 94 - 44.

Fertikas went from viewer to player in game 2, with Colton sitting out on the sidelines. The Toasters got out to an early lead as Pheltzer singlehandedly tried to bring them back into the match. Then Bearette got hot and lapped the field, going to FO with Moonspell. This again gave the FO bonus to the Castaways, with the final tally being 101 - 45. Final match score: 2 - 0 Castaways.

Thanks to everyone for showing up and being patient as we subbed and shuffled the lineup to get everyne into the match. Thanks also to the FT's who played inspired Acro all night while a player short!

09/13/98 - Clash of Clans Tourney

The 'Clash of Clans' tourney was a 27 team elimination tournament organized by Chadzilla of Chaos. Each team played games with 2 other teams (4 players apiece) through several rounds until finally only one team remained at the end.

Picking 4 players out of this group was not an easy task, but eventually the Castaways were represented by Moonspell, Lynx, Docgc, and Capecodder in the 1st round. After a slow start, the team made a charge and won the round, defeating the Toaster Philes and the Acrobats.

Round 2 saw some player shuffling as Jennn was added to the lineup for Doc, who volunteered to take a match off. This round also went to the Castaways, with the Dust Bunnies and C9Abal being the competition.

Round 3 (the championship round) was played shortly after the 2nd round. The Castaways faced the Couch Taters and the Asylum Loonies for the coveted title. Playing with the Round 1 lineup once again, the Castaways emerged victorious and won the Tourney! Congrats to all who participated, and to everyone who helped out as subs. Let's hope we can play with full teams the next time we enter a tournament!

More details on the Clash of Clans can be found at Team Acro .

09/08/98 - Castaways vs Asylum Loonies

Our first-ever match against the Asylum Loonies was played with cumulative scoring (top 5), with the 5pt FO bonus. Present for the Castaways were Fertikas, Lynx, Capecodder, Jk, Doc, Colton, and Moonspell. Lynx was nice enough to warm up the Clan room before the match began...

Game 1 was basically a 3 person show - fortunately for us they were all Castaways! Capecodder led the way with some amazing acros, Fertikas was close behind him, and Moonspell joined them as they lapped the field and led the Castaways to a 95-29 win.

In game 2, it initially looked like we'd have a replay of the first game as Lynx jumped out to a commanding lead after only the few early rounds! Eventually the rest of the group was allowed to play, and the match got fairly close before a late Castaways run put it out of reach. Lynx and Moonspell went to FO and the game went to the Castaways 103-52, along with the match, 2 games to none.

Thanks to the Loonies for making it a fun, enjoyable night, we're looking forward to a rematch!

09/04/98 - Castaways vs Toaster Philes

This match was played with top 5 cumulative scoring rules. Present for the Castaways were Fertikas, Bearette, Portal, Jennn, Docgc, Moonspell, and Capecodder. Fertikas had reel (real?) problems after game 1, and Batsis25 subbed for us in game 2 - thanks Sis!

Game 1 was basically the Doc and Moon show, with Doc winning several rounds. Jennn, Cape, Bear, and Port also had excellent games, helping the Castaways to a 127-44 victory.

Game 2 was a bit closer, but in the end the Castaways pulled away with Doc again taking top honors (nice match, Docster!!), and Bear joining him in the Face Off. Final score for game 2: Castaways 120, TPs 55.

Final match score: 2-0 Castaways. Thanks to the Toaster Philes for an entertaining, fun match!

08/30/98 - Castaways vs SLRs

The Rematch :)

Present for the Castaways: Moonspell, Colton, Lynx, Doc, Capecodder, and 2 subs, EJetson and Chipps (thanks for helping us out you two!). The SLRs had the usual cast of thousands, all attired in their ==SLR== outfits. Scoring was cumulative for the top 5 players on each team with the 5pt Face Off bonus.

Round 1 was a close match with many players in double figures. In the end, the Castaways pulled away with Moonspell and Chipps going to Face Off. Final game score: 116 - 66 Castaways.

Round 2 again featured many players in double figures, but this time the Castaways controlled the top of the leaderboard from the early rounds on. Chipps and Colton went to Face Off. Final game score: 158 - 51 Castaways.

Thanks again to the SLR gang for some inspired acroing and as usual great company!

08/26/98 - Castaways vs SLRs

Present for the Castaways: Capecodder, Jennn, Jk, Lynx, Moonspell, Bearette, and Mfw as a sub (thanks Mfw!). The SLRs showed up in their distinctive, numbered uniforms. This match was played with cumulative scoring.

Game 1 was basically the Jennn and Capecodder show as these 2 dominated the scoring as they made it to Face Off. Moonspell got careless with matches and was forced to miss much of the game when an alert neighbor pulled the fire alarm in his dorm. Final game score: 89 - 40, Castaways.

Game 2 was over almost before it started as Moonspell 'smoked' the competition, winning in only 4 rounds. Lynx made it a Castaways sweep of the Face Off positions, and the game went to the Castaways 85 - 22. Final match score: 2 - 0, Castaways.

Thanks to everyone who played, Moon for the Log and scoring summaries, and the SLRs for a well-played match.

08/17/98 - Castaways vs Couch Rules

Present for the Castaways: Lynx, Hook, Docgc, Moonspell, Colton, Bearette (game 1), and Fertikas (game 2). Jib subbed as our 7th player - nice Silly Hat there Jib!. Match scoring: Face Off. Match Rules: Regular Acro.

Game 1 was nip and tuck early on, but then the Castaways caught fire with Doc, Jib, Moon, Hook and Lynx claiming the top spots. Doc and Jib made the Face Off, giving the Castaways the lead in the match 1-0.

Bearette dropped after game 1, and after a wait, Fertikas joined the match for game 2. The CRs got off quickly in Game 2, with GameID and Tornado winning early rounds. After that, however, it was all Castaways (despite the numerous beers proffered by the CR's :). Moonspell and Lynx went to Face off, and the Castaways took the top 7 positions and the match, 2-0.

Thanks to the CR's for fun matches and chat - what a fun team!

08/10/98 - Castaways vs Couch Taters

This match was played with Face Off scoring rules and regular acro gameplay (no Couch Rules). The Castaways lineup had Leaft, Bearette, Capecodder, Lynx, Hook, Docgc and Colton. The Taters started with 6, but had a 7th join in early during game 1.

Game 1 began with the Taters winning round 1, then watching as Capecodder and other Castaways went on a tear, with Cape and Bearette going to Face Off. Lynx, Leaf, and Doc also had strong games, while Colton chose to play anchor in this one :) Match score: 1-0 Castaways.

In game 2, the Taters seemed to lose interest a bit - it was clear we caught them on an off night. Still, there were some excellent Tater acros from Kodie's group. With the momentum from the first game, the Castaways came out smoking in this one, taking the top 7 positions, with Docgc and Colton going to Face Off. Cape barely missed the Face Off, with Leaf, Bear, Hook, and Lynx all playing strong games. Final score: 2-0 Castaways.

Thanks to Kodie and the Taters for a good match, we enjoyed the playing and the good company!

08/06/98 - Castaways vs Yacht Club High Fivers

Present for the Castaways: Moonspell, Lynx, Portal, Menace, Bearette, Hook, Docgc. This match used cumulative scoring rules, and featured some excellent acros from both teams.

Game 1 was a VERY high scoring affair, with a crowded leaderboard at the top. Sally Jean made it to face off for YCHF, but the Castaways had packed the leaderboard with Moon, Lynx, and Portal all at 29 and Doc at 28. Portal beat Sally Jean in the FO, and the Castaways took the game 159-102.

In contrast, game 2 was a low scoring affair as Moonspell decided not to let anyone else score points, lapping the field and leading the Castaways to a 65-36 win. Moon and Sally Jean tied in the FO. Final match score - Castaways 2, YCHF 0. Great games folks!

07/28/98 - Castaways vs Acro Faction

This match was played with cumulative scoring rules. Present for the Castaways were Moonspell, Capecodder, Colton, Bearette, Hook, Portal, and Fertikas. We had some annoying problems with unwanted 'guests' in the Clan room, so we played with 6 for game 1 while Capecodder waited impatiently to get into the match.

Game 1 was initially a seesaw battle, with several Castaways jumping out to an early lead (Portal won the first few rounds) only to have the AF'ers make a comeback in the middle of the game to get 2 players near the lead. At the end however, the Castaways pulled ahead again, with Portal and Bearette going to Face Off. With the 5 point face off bonus, the final score was 113-30 Castaways.

Several AF members swapped with alternates in a planned move before the start of game 2. Also our final unwanted 'guest' finally departed, allowing Capecodder back into the game and giving us a full 7 on 7 match. Acro Faction got off to a good start in game 2, winning the first round, but from there on it was mostly all Castaways. Moonspell and Capecodder went to Face Off, and with the 5 pt bonus the final score was 132-64 Castaways. Final match score - 2 games to none, Castaways.

Thanks to all the Acro Faction members for a fun match, we admired your never-say-die spirit and your excellent playing!

07/27/98 - Castaways vs Couch Taters

Present for the Castaways: Colton (game 1), Capecodder (games 2-3), Fertikas, Portal (welcome back), Bearette (welcome to the team!), Docgc, Moonspell and Menace_o. The match was played with Face Off rules for scoring; game 2 was also played using Couch Rules.

Game 1 was a long, close game with many players ending up with 20+ points. At the end, Moonspell and Doc surged ahead and made the Face Off, assuring the win for the Castaways.

Game 2, played with couch rules, went to the Taters. Cattt and Kilroy105 held off a determined group of 4 Castaways to make it to the Face Off and square the match at 1-1.

The tide turned again in the deciding game, with 6 Castaways at the top of the leaderboard! Bearette and Capecodder made the Face Off, giving the Castaways a 2-1 win. Thanks to Kodie, Sunni and the rest of the Taters for a well-played match!

07/15/98 - Castaways vs Chaos

This was a *great* match played with cumulative scoring rules and a 5pt Face Off bonus. Present for the Castaways were Colton, Moonspell, Leaf (1st 2 games), Menace (1st 2 games), Lynx, Capecodder, Hook, JK (game 3), and Klutz (sub for game 3, thanks!).

Game 1 was close all the way, a high-scoring game that saw many players score 20+ points before the Face Off. The Castaways inched ahead at the end of the round, winning the final 6 and 7 letter rounds to grab an insurmountable lead as Moonspell and Hoju went to FO. Final score: Castaways 120, Chaos 109.

After a close game 1, the second game ended up closer still! The Castaways started out hot, winning the 1st 4 rounds, but the Chaos troops came storming back to win 3 of the next 4. And so it went. At the end Chaos grabbed an 8 point lead, and even a Face Off win by Capecodder over Batsis couldn't make up that difference. Final score: Chaos 116, Castaways 113.

After game 2, we had several players get booted, and Leaf had to leave for work. Things were delayed for several minutes while JK entered the game, as well as Klutz as a substitute. When the game finally began, Chaos jumped to the early lead. The Castaways slowly eroded the margin, and eventually took back the lead with a small margin to spare. Jk and Moonspell made the Face Off, giving the Castaways the 5pt bonus and the match! Final score: Castaways 105, Chaos 88.

Thanks to several folks are in order: Moonspell for playing while badly 'under the weather', Klutz for subbing in game 3, Jk for helping out as an alternate, and the entire Chaos team for producing Hall-of-Fame quality acros all night. Thanks everyone, can't wait for the rematch :)

06/29/98 - Castaways vs YC High Fivers

Present for the Castaways were Moonspell, Capecodder, Jk, Lynx, Docgc, and Hook. Capt. Colton had to cancel at the last minute, and Exploder2 played in his place - thanks 'ploder! This match was played using cumulative scoring with a 5pt Faceoff bonus to the winning team.

Game 1 was a high-scoring, seesaw battle with the Castaways gaining the edge at the end. Moonspell beat Sally Jean 23-13 in the FO, but the issue had already been decided by that point. Final score: Castaways 128, YCHF 96.

Game 2 went much as the first one did, with the Castaways holding on for a 135-90 win. Moonspell beat Capecodder 17-16 in the FO. This gave the match to the Castaways, 2-0. Thanks to all the YC High Fivers for excellent play and fun matches!

06/15/98 - Castaways vs Acrobats

After a layoff of several weeks, we got back to playing vs Flipshot and the Acrobats. Present for the Castaways were Moonspell, Lynx, Capecodder, Docgc, Fertikas, and Colton. Fertikas played from work in between roving church groups who invaded his theater! The Bats played with 6 as well, using 2 other players as a humorous cheering section during the match. The match was played using Face-Off rules to determine the round winners.

Round 1 went to the Castaways convincingly. Capecodder took top honors, going to Face-Off with Moonspell. Docgc and Lynx made it a Castaways sweep of the top 4 spots. Cape won the FO, and it was 1-0 , Castaways.

Round 2 was a much closer match, with Kayla jumping out to an early lead for the Acrobats. Moonspell eventually caught up and passed Kayla, and Capecodder made a late charge to grab 2nd (both players had 29 at one point!). This gave the Castaways the match, 2-0.

Thanks to the Acrobats for a fun match and good company!

05/27/98 - Castaways vs Flying Toasters

All good things must come to an end, and the Castaways' win streak was no exception. This match featured players from both teams getting booted making scoring extremely difficult, especially in game 1. Present for the Castaways were Colton, Moonspell, Capecodder, Lynx and Jk (for game 2). Also, Klutz and Mmike filled in for us, along with a short stint by Krishna. Thanks for helping out folks!

Game 1 started positively for the Castaways, playing 1 person short with only 6 players. Capecodder, Moonspell and Lynx jumped out to an early lead, and things were looking good. However as the round progressed, Jennn zoomed up the leaderboard to take the lead, the Castaways holding on to 2nd-4th places. Several FT players got booted during the game, and just before the FO, Mmike and Moonspell got booted, making scoring a nightmare. Jennn and Lynx met in the FO with the win going to Jennn, giving the FT's the game 69-66.

Game 2 was one of the most lopsided games the Castaways have ever played in. Unfortunately, we were not on the winning side! With all the trouble with people being booted and scoring game 1, game 2 began on the 6 letter round. Jennn won the 6 and 7 letter rounds for the FT's, quickly giving them a huge lead. Moonspell again got booted, forcing the Castaways to play shorthanded for the duration of the round. That turned out to be a short duration, as Jennn easily won the round, almost single handedly winning the match for the FT's. Final score: FT's 64, Castaways 23. Congrats FT's, and especially Jennn who played 2 amazing games!

05/07/98 - Castaways vs Couch Taters

Present for the Castaways for this match were Moonspell, Jk, Hook, Capecodder, and Colton. Thanks to Drgc and Lynx for filling in for us also! The match was played with regular Acro rules (no couch rules) and Face Off winner determining the winning team for each round. Some early non-teamers and a few boots made for a slow start and a constantly changing Taters lineup.

Round 1 was a long round in which the Castaways jumped ahead early and never looked back. Even with Moonspell being booted in the middle of the round, we managed to put palm trees into 6 of the top 7 slots. Lynx and Hook went to the face off, ensuring a win for the Castaways for the round.

The second round was dominated even more by the Castaways (if possible) with one very important exception: Mpd! Mpd singlehandedly kept the Taters in the match, winning the round in a close faceoff with Drgc. In all, the Castaways had 7 of the top 8 positions, but the Taters walked away with the win. Colton has vowed never to choose 'The Law' as a category ever again!

With the match tied, round 3 would determined the winner. Capecodder and Jk made sure there would be no repeat of Round 2, as they ran away from the field and went to the faceoff, giving the round to the Castaways. Final score: Castaways 2 games, Couch Taters 1.

Thanks to the Taters for a well-played match despite all the networking problems! Captain Kodie managed to keep things together and we all enjoyed the banter in the chat window as well!

4/14/98 - Castaways vs Rainbow Room Dream Team

This match pitted us against our good friends from the Rainbow Room, and with so many familiar names on both sides the atmosphere was fun and loose. As usual, the RR'ers produced all-star quality acros all night and the match see-sawed back and forth, going the full 3 games before being decided.

The Castways' lineup had Moonspell, Portal, Jk, Colton, Capecodder, and Hook as regulars, with Chadzilla from the Chaos team filling in for our 7th player. Chad looked really spiffy in his palm tree!

After some minor problems getting everyone in the room, Round 1 began and the Castaways jumped out to a fast start. Jk led the way with some great acros, with Chadzilla also making the faceoff. Holding the top 4 positions, the Castaways won the round easily, 94-35.

Not ready to be so quickly dispatched, the RRDT'ers came roaring back in Round 2. Toga and Hintzde were on fire, and the match was evened with RRDT stomping us 109-59.

The decisive round 3 was yet another flip flop, with the Castaways regaining the edge. Moonspell cruised to the win, with Portal also making the Faceoff. Final score: Castaways 95-33. This gave the match to the Castaways, 2 games to 1. Thanks to the Rainbow Room crew for a fun evening and some great Acroing!

4/6/98 - Castaways vs Flying Toasters

The FT's are a relatively new team, but we expected them to give us a tough match and we got exactly that - this match was close from start to end! Present for the Castaways were Moonspell, Mrsmodel, Portal, Leaf, Hook, Ridge, and Fertikas.

Round 1 was a long round, with many players grouped in a pack. Mrsmodel jumped out to a lead and eventually went to face off vs Mayryt. The points were 114-110 Castaways at this point, so the 5-pt FO bonus would determine the winner. With a single vote to spare, Mrsmodel won the face off and the Castaways took the first round, 119-110!

Round 2 was a 2-person show, with Jennn and Moonspell capturing most of the rounds. The total score was much lower this time, 64 apiece entering the FO. Jennn and Moon met in the face off, and Moonspell prevailed to take the round and the match, 2-0! Great job Castaways!! Thanks to the Toasters for a great match and some excellent acros; we enjoyed it!

4/2/98 - Castaways vs Chaos

What a match! Present for the Castaways were Moonspell, Portal, Fertikas, Mrsmodel, Colton, and Hook. We also recruited Mmike for the match; thanks Mike!

We all expected a close match and Round 1 didn't disappoint. Both teams played well and many scores were bunched together in the middle of the pack. The Face Off eventually pitted Fertikas against Batsis25. With the match in the balance (Castaways were up 2 with a 5 point FO bonus to be won), Fate intervened and Fert's ISP dropped him in the middle of the round, handing the round to Batsis and Chaos, 65-62.

Fertikas was able to reconnect and rejoin the team for Round 2. This round went our way from start to finish, with Moonspell beating Mmike in the FaceOff. Final score, Castaways 95, Chaos 51. The match was squared at one apiece!

Round 3 was a classic. Both teams had their backs to the wall and each round became more and more crucial. Moonspell and Chadzilla went to the Face Off with Chaos up 84-81. Feeling no pressure (right Moon?? :), Moonspell won the FO and the match for the Castaways! Final score: Castaways 86, Chaos 84.

Thanks to Chaos for a tremendous match - the acros were unbelievable all night, the type of match where you entered a sure winner only to see 2 or 3 better ones when the answers were listed! Great game Castaways!

3/24/98 - Castaways vs Couch Rules Clan (*CR*)

Another fun, exciting match! Present for the Castaways were Moonspell, Portal, Leaf, Jklafemme, and Colton. Filling in for us were Jennn and Mmike - thanks guys! Hook was also available to fill in, but had to leave early so he volunteered to drop out for this match.

This match was played with Couch Rules, of course, and Face Off scoring to determine the winner. Things were a bit chaotic at the start, so Colton and Cin*CR* opted for the simpler scoring rules to help get the match going. After all, playing Couch Rules was new enough, having to track scores would have been a nightmare!

Round 1 was close from the start. The Castaways got out fast with Colton winning some early rounds, but then Buggy*CR* scored a *15* point win for the CR clan and took the lead! After that, the round belonged to Portal who eventually passed Buggy going to the Face Off. With the game on the line, Portal scored a convincing win and the Castaways took the round!

Round 2, in contrast, was never in question. Moonspell and Jennn took over early and alternated winning acros for most of the round. Leaf and Jk made it a Castaways sweep at the top of the scoreboard. Moonspell beat Jennn in the meaningless Face Off as the Castaways took round 2 and the match, 2-0. Great playing team!

3/10/98 - Castaways vs Dust Bunnies

This was an interesting match played with a combination of Castaways and Dust Bunnies rules. We played Dust Bunnies scoring rules where the Face Off winner determined the winning team for the round, and a combination of Regular Acro and Couch Rules for the game play itself. Present for the Castaways were: Colton, Fertikas, Jklafemme, Leaf (kermit), Shipwreck, and Snowlock. Jk's friend Ridge also played for the Castaways as our 7th player.

Round 1 was played with Regular Acro rules and the Castaways jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The new palm tree striping for our players {-- made a nice forest of trees at the top of the scoreboard as the Castaways took the top 5 positions. Fertikas beat Colton in the FO, and the Castaways had a 1-0 lead.

Round 2 was played with Couch rules and the Bunnies showed why they prefer this style of play! Aip, Beadle, Jetgirl and other Bunnies zoomed out to early leads. Near the end of the round, the Castaways finally started getting the hang of the new format a bit and Colton jumped into 2nd place to make the Face Off. In a weird face off where the 2nd round consisted of a single letter acro, Colton beat Aip and the Castaways took the round.

Final score - Castaways 2, Dust Bunnies 0. Great job again Castaways! Thanks to the Dust Bunnies for a fun match and especially to Aip for organizing us to help avoid some early Snert distractions.

3/4/98 - Castaways vs Rainbow Room Dream Team.

What a great match! Things started out rather ominously when we were unable to get chat sessions on the RR web server and on Yahoo. We finally managed to get everyone to a room in Acro after a lot of ICQ efforts. The Castaways could only field 5 members for the match, but the RRDT folks were kind enough to play their top 5 vs our 5.

Round 1 went to the Castaways in a big way. Msmodel and Fertikas jumped out to a quick lead over the field and were never challenged, with Model winning the Faceoff. Shipwreck got the Castaways a tie for 3rd as well, ensuring total points for the round. Final score: Castaways 89, RRDT 59.

Round 2 was nip and tuck the entire way. The Castaways scores almost reversed themselves from round 1. Colton jumped out to a lead early on, with Snowlock on his heels. However the RRDT didn't quit and klutz zoomed past Colton going to the Faceoff. With the points almost even, the Faceoff decided the match, with Colton managing to sneak a win out of the round. Final score: Castaways 88, RRDT 86.

Great match, Castaways! Also many thanks to the Rainbow Room crew who produced exceptional acros all evening in the middle of hilarious chatting!
